Thomas Carr, or "Dr. Stoxx" as he is widely known in the trading community, has been actively involved in the markets since 1996 following several years of studying technical analysis. He holds a masters of divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, and masters and doctorate degrees in philosophy from Oxford University. In addition to trading and managing a small hedge fund, Dr. Carr is a tenured professor at Mount Union College in Ohio. He has been interviewed by The Wall Street Journal and US News and World Report for his insights into trading psychology and has been published in Technical Analysis of Stocks and Commodities and on several websites.

Dr. Carr began trading as a part-time hobby until 2 years of losses forced him to do more research. He attended several trading seminars and studied under some of the top names in the business including Alexander Elder, Steve Nison and Welles Wilder. Soon he began experimenting with his own trading systems. The result was a set of time-tested, proprietary trading methods that have proven to be very profitable in all types of market conditions. These systems are based on the essentials of technical analysis, but also incorporate Dr. Carr's unique method of assessing market psychology, sector strength, and general market directionality. Highly skilled as a "tape reader", Dr. Carr possesses an uncanny ability to time his entries and exits, often just prior to major moves. Dr. Carr was formerly CEO of Befriend the Trend Trading, a web-based advisory and trading education service. He also serves as General Partner of Carr Capital Management which provides capital growth opportunities for accredited investors.
